An adaptive spatio-temporal coding scheme for indoor wireless communication

چکیده
Systems that employ multiple antennas in both the transmitter and the receiver of a wireless system have been shown to promise extraordinary spectral efficiency. With full channel knowledge at the transmitter and receiver, Raleigh and Cioffi proposed a spatio-temporal coding scheme, discrete matrix multitone (DMMT), to achieve asymptotically optimum multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) channel capacity. The DMMT can be regarded as an extension of the discrete multitone for a digital subscriber lines (DSL) system to the MIMO wireless application. However, the DMMT is basically impracticable in nonstationary wireless environments due to its high-computational complexity. Exploring second-order statistics, we develop an efficient adaptive blind coding scheme for a high-capacity time-division duplexing (TDD) system with slow time-varying frequency-selective MIMO channels. With this method, neither a training sequence nor feedback of channel information is required in the proposed blind approach. Besides, the computational complexity of the proposed scheme is significantly lower than that of the coding scheme described by Raleigh and Cioffi. Simulation results show that the proposed architecture works efficiently in indoor wireless local area network applications.

Routing and data aggregation are two important techniques for reducing communication cost of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). To minimize communication cost, routing methods can be merged with data aggregation techniques. Compressive sensing (CS) is one of the effective techniques for aggregating network data, which can reduce the cost of communication by reducing the amount of routed data to t...
متن کاملSpatio-temporal coding for wireless communication
Multipath signal propagation has long been viewed as an impairment to reliable communication in wireless channels. This paper shows that the presence of multipath greatly improves achievable data rate if the appropriate communication structure is employed. A compact model is developed for the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) dispersive spatially selective wireless communication channel. Th...
متن کاملContext-aware Modeling for Spatio-temporal Data Transmitted from a Wireless Body Sensor Network
Context-aware systems must be interoperable and work across different platforms at any time and in any place. Context data collected from wireless body area networks (WBAN) may be heterogeneous and imperfect, which makes their design and implementation difficult. In this research, we introduce a model which takes the dynamic nature of a context-aware system into consideration. This model is con...

متن کاملIndoor Non-directed Optical Wireless Communications - Optimization of the Lambertian Order
For an indoor non-directed line of sight optical wireless communication (NLOS-OWC) system we investigate the optimized Lambertian order (OLO) of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We firstly derive an expression for the OLO from a conventional Lambertian LED model. Then, we analyze the indoor multi-cell NLOS-OWC channel characteristics including the optical power distribution and the multipath time ...
